Notes: The Coral Hogfish is a good choice for any predatory aquarium. It can be quite aggressive towards new tank-mates and smaller docile fish. In the wild it is a rather solitary fish and cruises the reef alone. Keep only one per aquarium since it may attack it own kind.
Hogfish will not eat coral or anemones, but will eat a wide range of invertebrates including snails, crabs, and shrimp. They will also eat small clams and fish. Juveniles are less likely to do damage to invertebrates in a reef aquarium. Keep this fish with other aggressive fish such as puffers, triggers, groupers, tangs, and large angels.
Offer a varied diet of frozen carnivore preparations, marine fish, squid, brine shrimp, and/or mysid shrimp.
