Notes: The Spanish Hogfish can be kept in a semi-aggressive, or aggressive community aquarium with tank-mates such as tangs, angel, puffers, triggers, and large wrasse. Generally, the Spanish Hogfish is not overly aggressive. Juveniles may be kept aquariums of 60 gallons or more. Best kept only one per tank.
Hogfish will not eat coral or anemones, but will eat a wide range of invertebrates including snails, crabs, and shrimp. They may also eat small clams and fish. Juveniles are less likely to do damage to invertebrates in a reef aquarium.
Offer a varied diet of frozen carnivore preparations, marine fish, squid, brine shrimp, and/or mysid shrimp.
