The Yellow Candy Hogfish is a peaceful fish that should do well in most community aquariums and reef aquariums. If two are to be added to the same aquarium they should be added at the same time to avoid "territorial disputes". Adults may attack ornamental shrimp that are new to the aquarium, but should not bother "established shrimp".

Offer a varied diet of frozen carnivore preparations, marine fish, squid, brine shrimp, and/or mysid shrimp.
