Notes: While the Clown Trigger's coloration is quite bizarre and unusual, so is its behavior. We have kept Clown Triggers in predator reef aquariums with living coral and other aggressive predatory fishes, but without any invertebrates or smaller fishes which it would feed on. We must mention that the Clown Trigger can be a peaceful aquarium habitant for many months and then suddenly become quite aggressive towards its tank mates. These fish will bite the hand that feeds them so when maintaining the aquarium don't be shy about swatting them away. As long as you let them know who's boss they will learn to leave you alone. All in all the Clown Trigger is an extraordinary fish that will dazzle you with its coloration, and make you laugh at its quirky behavior. Keep with other aggressive fishes of equal or larger size. The Clown Trigger will not bother living corals, but will nip at the live rock and will eat any invertebrates and shellfish such as shrimp and clams. Will also eat smaller fishes.
Feed the Clown Trigger a meaty diet including, chopped squid, shrimp, krill, fish, and frozen herbivore preparations.
