Notes: The Elegance Coral is considered by many to be one of the most dazzling corals available. This LPS coral has a beautiful green fluorescent color under actinic lights. The tips of its tentacles can be green, blue, purple, or pink. It requires moderate water currents and moderate to high reef lighting for proper health. It is important that proper calcium and alkalinity levels are maintained. Use of Kalkwasser Mix or a calcium reactor will be of great benefit.
Place the Elegance Coral in the sand bed or on an exposed rock along the bottom two-thirds of the aquarium where currents will be able to supply it with necessary nutrients and trace elements. It can expand to twice its normal size during the day, and can sting nearby corals so leave 3"-4" between it and other corals. Be careful to place it so that only the skeleton comes in contact with the sand or live rock.
Supplement its diet with the addition of trace elements, marine snow, phytoplankton, and food for filter feeders. Try feeding it small pieces of shrimp or squid several times per month by placing the meat near one of its numerous mouths located along the center of the polyp.
Do not keep with large angelfish or butterflyfish as they cannot seem to resist picking at its fleshy polyps.
