Notes: These polyps are easy to keep and are a great choice for the beginner. Star Polyps are an encrusting coral that can grow their dense colonies over rocks and even up the glass. They wave in the currents beautifully and give the reef an overgrown wild appearance. They provide a natural backdrop to your prized show corals.
Star Polyps can be placed almost anywhere in the aquarium where moderate currents will supply them with free-floating food. Leave several inches between them and other specimens, as they will usually expand their colony. Star Polyps can be cultured by placing small pieces of the colony in different locations within the aquarium.
Although symbiotic algae called zooxanthellae hosted within them supply most of their nutritional requirements through photosynthesis they do require supplemental feedings. Supplementing their diet with the addition of trace elements, marine snow, phytoplankton, and food for filter feeders will help to insure their continued good health.
Green Star Polyps are shipped as colonies with numerous polyps attached to one rock. Please note that Green Star Polyps come in many different shades of green. The exact color of green may vary.
