Notes: Ricordea Mushrooms can be differentiated from other mushrooms by their numerous bead-like vesicles. These specimens are green in color although members of this family can be found in a variety of different colors. Ricordea Mushrooms will grow and reproduce by fission in the aquarium when provided with the proper environment.
Place mushrooms along the bottom half of the aquarium on an exposed rock. Make sure that currents will be able to supply it with necessary nutrients and trace elements. Leave several inches between it and other corals.
Although symbiotic algae called zooxanthellae hosted within its body supply some of its nutritional requirements through photosynthesis it does require supplemental feeding. Supplementing its diet with the addition of trace elements, marine snow, phytoplankton, and food for filter feeders will help to insure its continued good health. Try feeding finely chopped meat to each mushroom on occasion to expedite their growth.
Green Ricordea mushrooms are sold per polyp.
