Notes: One of the most striking anemones, the Fluorescent Green Carpet Anemone will host a wide variety of clownfish including, Pink Skunk, Ocellaris, Percula, Clarkii, and Maroon Clownfish. Keeping the anemone with a clownfish will help it acclimate faster since the clownfish will feed it scraps of food.
The carpet anemone has a potent sting that may harm other anemones or corals as it moves about the aquarium. Provide it with several areas where it can anchor its column in the substrate. Be ready to move corals out of its way if it should choose to anchor too close to them. Do not try to move the anemone once anchored because its column, or foot, can be easily torn. Most anemones will die from a torn column. The carpet anemone can trap and eat small fishes, however most fish know to stay away.
The carpet anemone is one of the few anemones that can cause a severe allergic reaction in humans. Do yourself a favor and use gloves, such as Aqua Gloves, to place this anemone in the aquarium. Do not use tongs, and do not touch this anemone.
Feed large pieces of squid, shrimp, and other meaty foods several times a week. Use a feeder stick and touch the piece of food against the anemone. Its sticky tentacles will grab onto the food. Be careful not to poke the anemone.
Please Note: Although Vivid Aquariums guarantees that all aquatic life will arrive alive and healthy we cannot guarantee Carpet Anemones after arrival due to the high level of care this species requires. We recommend that only experienced hobbyists or public aquariums purchase this species.
