Notes: The Flame Scallop will brighten up your aquarium with its vivid orange tentacles and red mantle. Groups may be kept in established reef aquariums. The Flame Scallop propels itself backwards by rapidly clapping its valves together. Place it with the hinge of its shell in the sand, or in a crevice in the rock where it will receive moderate water flow. As a filter feeder it relies on currents to provide a constant source of food.
Bacteria, phytoplankton, and marine snow are important foods for the Flame Scallop. Make sure to maintain proper calcium and alkalinity levels so the scallop can grow its shell.
