Dendrophyllia (Dendrophylliidae) - 1 polyp frag

Notes: To some newer hobbyists Dendrophyllia appear like overgrown Sun Polyps. Unlike Sun Polyps these beauties spend most of the day and night with their tentacles fully extended. They require low to moderate water currents and low to moderate reef lighting for proper health. Place the Dendrophyllia Coral lower in your aquarium at first an gradually move it up into brighter light if you want. Dendrophyllia Corals can adapt to brighter lighting over time. We keep one of our mother colonies under 400 watt metal halides about 15" from the surface. It is important that adequate calcium and alkalinity levels are maintained to ensure proper skeletal growth. Use of Kalkwasser Mix or a calcium reactor will be of great benefit.

Make sure that low to moderate currents will be able to supply it with necessary nutrients and trace elements.

Feed this coral by using a coral feeder, or turkey baster, to squirt mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, or other small bits of meaty foods near the polyps. It will also accept small silversides. The more you feed the Dendrophyllia the faster it will grow! Additions of Marine Snow, phytoplankton, and trace elements will help to insure its continued good health and growth.

Please feel free to call us to discuss the colonies we have available at 1-800-993-0979.
